So here was Jack on board a landing shuttle in route to a drop point on Thessia. Even young NCO’s were in command of smaller security details like this one. With such a shortage of officers after the war, lower ranking NCO’s were being assigned as commanders of smaller units. The Alliance saw otherwise, with things so quiet on Earth, security teams with experienced command were needed off world. He would much rather be assigned to a mop up combat team back on Earth. He was outspoken about being assigned to Thessia. He just seemed to focus on the task at hand. He always seemed to look tired, even though he was still relatively young. He was also a battle scarred veteran of the reaper war. The fire team leader was Sergeant Jack Malloy. There were sixteen engineers and a four man fire team who would provide security. Our shuttles departed with the teams on board, and we would reunite with our construction gear on the ground. As per protocol, cargo modules were dropped from the San Juan over our landing zone, and that’s where we would set up our camp. The San Juan entered orbit of Thessia June 10th 2187 AD. So the first Alliance combat engineering team, of many, was dispatched to Thessia aboard the Alliance Navy cruiser San Juan. Despite how badly Earth was hit, and the damage to the Turian home world of Palavan, the Alliance decided that Thessia had the greatest need. After the reaper war, I was assigned to a Combat engineering team on Thessia. I would find out that most of my assumptions were wrong.Īstra was something else though, meeting her was not by chance, yet the circumstances might have been. There was no alternate species DNA, just Asari. Which was probably why they felt their race was superior. No matter the father though, only more little blue Asari girls would be born. They would mate with other species, Turian, Human, Salarian and even the Krogan. They could be smug, and then down to earth almost at the same time. I never understood this race of blue amazon women, at least not until after my tour on Thessia. Like she dove into the shot so it would glide across her cheek perfectly. Even those seemed like they were planned, this bullet grazed there in that spot, just ever so right. She had those couple of battle scars but they did not detract from her appearance. Astra was one such Asari commando, tough and fierce. To look at an Asari commando in combat armor, watch her filet some reaper husks in two, then to have her drink alongside you and laugh after a battle, well, that’s something in itself. They are scarily fierce and attractive warriors. Like the commando’s… They seem so fragile, and yet are so tough. It’s hard to hate them when the good faults are equal to the bad ones, and when you occasionally meet that one who seems down to earth. Yet there they are, smarter than us, biotically more powerful than us, and they all seemed so beautiful. They all seemed so aloof, smug and superior.
